The cost of running a business has continued to rise across almost every year. We’re proud to be in business for over 15 years and a a Certified B-Corp. However, like many UK companies, we’ve had to adjust our pricing to ensure we can maintain the high standards, safety, and reliability our clients expect. Here’s an up‑to‑date explanation of what’s driving these changes and how they affect marquee hire and how we (Trafalgar Marquees) charge today.
Labour and installation costs
Our marquees and temporary structures can still be installed in as little as 24 hours and removed just as efficiently. The largest cost behind this remains our highly trained staff and transportation (to and from your location, setting it up and taking it down, along with our routine maintenance).
We pay our experienced staff the living, this reflects the the higher cost of living, something which has affected the entire UK workforce. Plus, the knock-on effects in the supply chain of labour shortages persisting. As a B-Corp we also provide our team with a variety of benefits.
Fuel & Transport Costs
Transport remains one of the most significant contributors to overall hire pricing.
- Fuel costs, particularly diesel, remain high.
- Any increase in transport costs directly impacts installation and collection of your marquee.
Rising Raw Material Costs
The cost of materials such as marquee structures, flooring, and carpets has continued to increase.
- Inflation and import complexities mean materials now cost more to purchase, ship, and store.
- Flooring—a key component for comfort have seen especially sharp increases, including our commitment to reduce and reuse where possible thus reducing our environmental footprint.
Heating & Power Costs
Energy prices remain volatile, and heating is essential for many events, especially in cooler months.
- Diesel prices for generators remain high.
- Rules banning red diesel for commercial generators are still in force, doubling generator running costs compared to pre‑regulation levels
Our Commitment to Quality & Service
Despite increased operating costs, we continue to invest in:
- High‑quality, well‑maintained marquees
